A Trip to the E.R. and my anxious heart

One bright and sunny July morning,  we were supposed to see a pediatrician at 9am for Seth’s vaccination.  Two hours before our appointment, we ended up in the ER. Seth was ok. Keefer wasn’t. He woke up profusely bleeding from his nose!

be anxious for nothing philippians 4:6 marythaHe had episodes like this once or twice a year, especially on warmer or colder months. So, we pretty much knew the drill and immediately did TPC (Tilt the head forward. Pinch the soft part of the nose. Cold pack applied to the nose.) “The bleeding should stop after 3-5 minutes”, I said to myself while trying to keep calm.

Minutes seemed like forever as I waited for the bleeding to stop.

It didn’t.

My thoughts focused on what I could do better. Perhaps, I wasn’t putting on much pressure or needed more ice. My heart started pounding and I felt terrified.

Joma, on the other hand, was calm as he lovingly spoke words of encouragement to Keefer who was starting to tear up. “Just keep praying. You will be alright”.  Those were the words I heard Joma said to Keefer as I stepped out of the bathroom to get more ice.

His words echoed in my mind and quickly snapped me out of my self-induced anxiety.

I started to pray myself.  “This is beyond me, Lord.  Help!”, that’s all I can remember saying. We all prayed. Except for Seth of course, who has no idea what’s happening around him.

On our way to the hospital, the bleeding stopped. Praise God!  Keefer was still sent to the ER and was seen by a doctor to ensure that he is okay. We were given the green light to go home after a few tests.

I learned a hard truth that day – to anchor my faith on the Lord or I will lose my footing. That unplanned trip to the ER, was a gentle nudge from Him to remind me to pray and be anxious for nothing – in ALL circumstances give thanks.

Philippians 4:6 says,

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.be anxious for nothing philippians 4:6

What a wonderful joy and privilege it is to be able to speak to God directly.  I am not worthy but He has always remained faithful – especially on that bright and sunny July morning.

How is the condition of your heart?  I would love to hear your stories. Comment or send us an email.

This bag almost didn't make it to my sewing table. This bag almost didn't make it to my sewing table. Not because I didn't love the idea but because I had to figure out how to make it work. There was no pattern to start with, so I drafted one from scratch. Then revised it. And revised it again. And again. What looks like a simple bag in a 5-second video can take hours of measuring, testing, sewing, taking apart, and starting over. Still tweaking.I want this piece to have a purpose, to be useful, thoughtfully designed, and still something you'd genuinely love to carry. And this one's for the moms who want a stroller bag that's practical… but also pretty!Pre-order before the drop at our next pop-up market.stroller bag with ruffles | quilted stroller bag | Canada small business
